If and when...
In the
corner
Of the
floor of
My closeted
heart
Stay the
deactivated
Dreamed dreams
Persuaded
during
Some period
to be
Folded by
degrees
Placed by
degrees
And years
further back
In the
space of dim
Nestled
in vision
Tribute
to the waiting
I like this, Pearl. I understand those 'deactivated dreamed dreams.' But at least they are somehow still accessible, and who knows.....the 'if' and 'when' may sometimes come about. As long as the dreams exist, there is HOPE! Happy Sunday, Pearl.
ReplyDeletesomewhat sad realization. loved it.
ReplyDeletecan we go back though? and knowing what we do now would we do it differently?
ReplyDeleteAlas, I know these two, If and When, very well.
ReplyDeleteFolded by degrees and placed by degress does bring us to if and when. I was thinking similar thoughts this morning.
ReplyDeleteIf and when works for me... plans have a tendency to go up in smoke...
ReplyDeleteI love the notion of 'deactivated dreamed dreams'. The entire poem is brilliant, Pearl!
ReplyDeleteThat invitation to the corner of the floor of the narrators heart, grabbed me! If only...... when the time comes.....
ReplyDeleteA beauty. Yes. If and when, two words full of promise.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this Pearl - found it to be quite ambitious - interesting work... Regards Scott www.scotthastie.com

ReplyDeleteAww . . . I enjoyed reading. Love this especially - "closeted heart."
ReplyDeleteOh yes...how often do we wait for "if" and "then"! Great piece Pearl.
ReplyDeleteAll is not lost, your brain is a computer and some whiz will find them for you and introduce you to the here and now.

ReplyDeletedreams are unfolded by if and when very often... :)
I felt that it could almost be old clothes in the back of the wardrobe. Deactivated dreamed dreams. Yes, quite sad, but life is full of cross roads and we make our choices... A good read.
