Happy Mothers' Day

A public domain photo

Happy Mothers' Day

From the sweet lips of
the mouth of the Universe
flies a vow soft as the drone
of butterfly chants floating
through time and space
binding under the one shared
sun the promise to answer
the circling wish of women
filling with infant velvet the
voided crook of empty arms
opening the fist of a wanting heart
as each mother falls headlong
into that cave of echoing love -
filled forever

seven-year-old-vow / Happy Mothers' Day

seven year old vow

I will hit you with my fist
I will break the badword lips in your mouth
I will send a predator drone on your head from
space and warlocks to blast shaming chants
at you from the sun - put binding on your
arms and legs I will drag you to the crook of a cave
broken glass under your bare feet
and waiting vultures will continue circling
my anger singing until slaked at all you have done
to my mother
I will take a slow picture of you bowed
with a quick camera
and wrap it in a bow
to show
to her
for Mothers' Day
and then
she and I
without you
will sit in our
quiet house
and smile
and laugh
I will give her
Unafraid Forever
I vow
I will
get you
when
I can

Time Running Backward

Time Running Backward

In the fading sun
long of leg and slightly leaning
on a sturdy thick stick
Stands the Crone –
Soft breeze catches
chants of gone years
as they spill from mouth
to lips –
singing the vow taken
words spoken as a passion promised
drone – delicious on the tongue
in that long ago shimmered setting sun –
She then ushered into it all held in the crook of
Universe’s elbow in the soft bend between
girl and woman-

Standing then young, tall, hair flowing
under the circling of crows before the smooth
walls of the cool cave –
Now, an unclenched fist –
this space of time –
this space of time undamming
All rippling rivers rushing to this night –

Standing in the fading sun
soft light playing in the shimmer of sudden silvered
hair in the woods gentle embrace – annoints her with ambrosia
in the fading sun
she stands tall
in this instant
of time running backward
and renews her vow inhaling the
cool of coming night –
all promises to and from
still and forever binding
