Howl
Flesh of my flesh
empty my veins of
blood-names, fuel
my annihilation-fear
through the weight
of your indifference
casually cut the certain
circle of life and legacy
I shall howl
to the moon
Willing tide-
turn as you
table time
immobilize
immortality
and barren
by design
consign
me Ghost
grieving
through
granite
forever
dead

Hopefully that feeling will pass. I guess we will be reading a lot of sad writing today with the wordle words!
ReplyDeleteThere is hardly anything heavier than the weight of indifference! Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteI love the shape of the cross this poem takes (always admire how you make images with your words literally and otherwise)..it echoes a weight...heavy to bear maybe? Good to see you again
ReplyDeleteThe mood today is sombre, and your poem tops the lot!
ReplyDeleteBrave to use that title! — and you pull it off beautifully, with writing as edgy, extravagant and run-on as Ginsberg's, yet not derivative but all your own. Quite an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteWow -- very powerful, painful piece. Nice work, Pearl!
