Watching Thyra
There
sparkling in a beam of
sunlight, lifting her anchor –
a shift, close
to a mother’s heart
a phrase, here and there drifts
into range –
floating images waft
and connect
coalescing in fragrant fertile layers
the
portent of the future ribboning to horizonless yield
Sparkling in that mystic beam of sunlight
Crystal tear drop holds the world on a lash-blink
soaring together

Ah, lovely - your last line says it all.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tribute to Brenda and her graduating daughter. And I agree with Viv, the last line makes the poem and the relationship.

Can only imagine that feeling a Mother feels watching their kids graduation - that lifting of the anchor to move into "horizonless yield". I could feel these words coming straight from your heart.
ReplyDeleteThat sublime feeling of success by the parent as their child reaches such maturity is overwhelming and you have captured this so well.
ReplyDeleteThis is very sweet!
ReplyDeleteAnd what might that phrase be that's drifting into range? Oh, the possibilities are endless, aren't they? :)
ReplyDeleteLove it Pearl. So nice to dedicate the poem is such a soft way. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, this is very nice and touching. I love the portents of the future ribboning horizoneless...
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite part:

Pearl, how very sweet of you to write this for Brenda and Thyra. I hope Brenda gets the opportunity to read it.
