Phantom

Phantom

On the stone wall a vestigial voice
echoes in phantom song springing over
the hollow leaping the surface of the brook
After a dry sere winter all is new in the wood
although a raw patch never to recover will
remain as actual birds rustle wings and leaves
green and grow fragrant – there over walls of stony
silence will always sing the phantom vestiged voice
of the displaced song of safety

This image makes my soul shudder with sadness.

  2. Interesting take, nice images. Your use of the word "displaced" reminded me of all your problems from the storm. Hope things are better!

  3. This was a interesting image, complete with sound. I could almost scent burgeoning vegetative growth, Pearl. The hint of something not quite as it should be came through loud and clear.

Good job. You've inspired me, my friend, to do a wordle today. Thank you.

  5. Scars, no matter the type, remain for a reason. A reminder that once broken places can be the strongest ones we own. They mark a changing and can be heard in that phantom voice. Really fine writing,

  6. the displaced song of safety... oh Pearl, powerful after the displacement you have just been through due to the storm. I hope you will join me and others around the world in creating a gratitude quilt of words. To learn more about this project and how you can participate read the white box at the top of my blog. It would be wonderful to have you be a part of this.
